The brief

The Audentior Awards celebrate the people, groups and organisations making a real difference across Watford. Organised by the Elected Mayor of Watford and the Chairwoman of Watford Borough Council, the awards recognise community champions nominated by local residents.

Rather than filming the ceremony itself, I was commissioned to produce a series of nomination videos to introduce the finalists during the live event. Each film needed to tell an individual’s or organisation’s story in a warm, authentic and engaging way, helping the audience understand why they had been nominated before the award was presented.

The videos needed to be informative, emotionally engaging and consistent in style, while respecting the unique contribution each nominee had made to the local community.

The approach

The focus was on helping the audience understand:

  • The positive impact each nominee had made within the community
  • The personal stories behind each nomination
  • Why local residents had chosen to recognise their contribution
  • The diversity of people and organisations being celebrated across the awards

Production

  • Planning and coordinating filming with multiple nominees
  • Conducting interviews that encouraged natural, authentic responses
  • Filming supporting footage that illustrated each nominee’s work and community impact.
  • Editing each film into a concise, engaging story suitable for presentation at the awards.
  • Delivering a consistent series of videos that reflected the values and community spirit of the Audentior Awards.

The result

Why this project worked

This project demonstrates how professionally produced nomination videos can add depth and emotion to an awards ceremony. Rather than simply announcing finalists, the films gave every nominee a voice, helping audiences connect with their stories and understand the impact of their work. For public sector organisations, community awards and corporate events, this approach creates engaging content that enhances the live experience while leaving a lasting legacy beyond the event itself.

I create a wide range of corporate videos, including promotional films, recruitment videos, customer case studies, construction updates, training content, event coverage and internal communications. Every project is planned around your audience, message and objectives.

Every video project follows a structured process: discovery to understand your goals, planning and pre-production including scripts, storyboards and schedules, professional filming, editing and post-production, then delivery of finished videos optimised for websites, presentations and social media.

Timescales vary depending on the complexity of the project, but many corporate videos can be completed within a few weeks from initial briefing to final delivery. Larger productions involving multiple locations, interviews or extensive editing may require additional time.
